DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT WEDNESDAY - WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO BE? Part 2.
"Some people think God does not like to be troubled with our constant coming and asking. The way to trouble God is not to come at all." - D. L. Moody.
We will not keep them from our children; we will tell the next generation about the LORD's power and his great deeds and the wonderful things he has done. He gave laws to the people of Israel and commandments to the descendants of Jacob. He instructed our ancestors to teach his laws to their children, so that the next generation might learn them and in turn should tell their children. In this way they also will put their trust in God and not forget what he has done, but always obey his commandments. - Psa 78:4-8. (GNB)
A man who lived on Long Island was able one day to satisfy a lifelong ambition by purchasing for himself a very fine barometer. When the instrument arrived at his home, he was extremely disappointed to find that the indicating needle appeared to be stuck, pointing to the sector marked "HURRICANE."
After shaking the barometer very vigorously several times, its new owner sat down and wrote a scorching letter to the store from which he had purchased the instrument. The following morning on the way to his office in New York, he mailed the letter.
That evening he returned to Long Island to find not only the barometer missing, but his house also. The barometer's needle had been right--there was a hurricane! - E. Schuyler English.
Yesterday in Part 1, we were reminded that… GOD WANTS US TO BE PEOPLE WHO TRUST HIM; We Must Not Trust In Man’s Ways; those Who Trust In Riches Will Fall, and We Can’t Trust In Religion either. Today we are reminded of …
The Good Things God Has Done, And Know That He Will Do It Again, As We Trust In Him.
God has blessed us in so many ways, He has given us loving hearts and caring attitudes, He has made us givers in every sense of the word, He has taken away our fears and anxieties, He gives us peace that surpasses all understanding, He has filled our hearts with joy, and many more blessings to numerous to mention, and on top of all that, He has rescued us from the darkness, and brought us into His marvelous light! Hallelujah! And He does this over and over again, as we learn to trust in Him completely.
"Duties are ours, events are God's; When our faith goes to meddle with events, and to hold account upon God's Providence, and begin to say, 'How wilt Thou do this or that?' we lose ground; we have nothing to do there; it is our part to let the Almighty exercise His own office, and steer His own helm; there is nothing left for us, but to see how we may be approved of Him, and how we roll the weight of our weak souls upon Him who is God omnipotent, and when we thus essay miscarries, it shall be neither our sin nor our cross." - Samuel Rutherford.
It is not easy to trust in Him completely, but as we see our prayers answered, and good things happen to us, that can’t be explained in normal circumstances, our confidence begins to grow, and each day gets a little easier in trusting Him completely. It is so much easier to trust the creator of the universe, His ways and thoughts are higher than ours…Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way - Pro 3:5-6.
We can’t depend on what we know, our wisdom will let us down, as someone once said… ``If you are not leaning on it, it won't let you down." It is so much easier to depend on Him, and trust Him for everything! God has given us in His Word, every direction for leading a supernatural, and abundant life, all we have to do is obey Him. We will have great opportunities and blessings in our future, as we learn to obey the lord Jesus…
But anyone who hears my words and does not obey them is like a man who built his house without laying a foundation; when the flood hit that house it fell at once---and what a terrible crash that was!" - Luke 6:49.
How we admire the obedience a dog shows to its master! Archibald Rutledge wrote that one day he met a man whose dog had just been killed in a forest fire. Heartbroken, the man explained to Rutledge how it happened. Because he worked out-of-doors, he often took his dog with him. That morning, he left the animal in a clearing and gave him a command to stay and watch his lunch bucket while he went into the forest. His faithful friend understood, for that's exactly what he did.
Then a fire started in the woods, and soon the blaze spread to the spot where the dog had been left. But he didn't move. He stayed right where he was, in perfect obedience to his master's word. With tearful eyes, the dog's owner said, "I always had to be careful what I told him to do, because I knew he would do it." - Our Daily Bread.
TRUST AND OBEY, FOR THERE’S NO OTHER WAY!
Loving Father, help me by the power of the Holy Spirit, to trust you completely, for everything in my life. In Jesus wonderful name I pray. Amen!
