DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT - TUESDAY: “The Secret To Changing Our World” #1
“Does it grieve you my friends, that the name of God is being taken in vain and desecrated? Does it grieve you that we are living in a godless age...But, we are living in such an age and the main reason we should be praying about revival is that we are anxious to see God's name vindicated and His glory manifested. We should be anxious to see something happening that will arrest the nations, all the peoples, and cause them to stop and to think again.” - Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. - Mat 7:7. (ESV)
As we begin this series on prayer, some say that the Sermon on the Mount was really not a sermon it was just a collection of the wisdom of Jesus, and they use this portion of scripture to support their argument. They say that the teaching on prayer just doesn't fit here... wrong! Jesus has just said not to judge the hearts of others unless we want to be judge accordingly. We think to ourselves, how can we live up to this standard? Jesus answers the unasked question. Pray...
What Is The Greatest Force In This World? – Prayer!
The greatest power in this world s God's people on their knees! The world thinks the greatest power lies in wealth, position, strength... Wrong! In the Bible, we see where prayer changes the world's values.
Egypt was the greatest nation on the earth, but they couldn't hold their slaves. Why? Because God hears the cries of His people... Then the LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, - Exod 3:7.
God saw the afflictions of Israel. Their distress; even the secret suffering of God's people are known to Him. God hears the cries of His afflicted people. Jesus is the name above all names and he will deal with any and every distress and suffering in our lives… "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, - Luke 4:18.
Jesus came and died and rose again for this very purpose! Jesus came to set the captives free, and we must begin to pray in earnest for those souls held captive by the enemy! Jesus came that those who are spiritually blind would have their eyes opened, and we must pray that they will see the light! Jesus came to release those who are oppressed by the enemy, and we must pray that they will be freed from their bondage!
Dr. Helen Roseveare, missionary to Zaire, told the following story. "A mother at our mission station died after giving birth to a premature baby. We tried to improvise an incubator to keep the infant alive, but the only hot water bottle we had was beyond repair. So we asked the children to pray for the baby and for her sister. One of the girls responded. 'Dear God, please send a hot water bottle today. Tomorrow will be too late because by then the baby will be dead. And dear Lord, send a doll for the sister so she won't feel so lonely.'
That afternoon a large package arrived from England. The children watched eagerly as we opened it. Much to their surprise, under some clothing was a hot water bottle! Immediately the girl who had prayed so earnestly started to dig deeper, exclaiming, 'If God sent that, I'm sure He also sent a doll!' And she was right! The heavenly Father knew in advance of that child's sincere requests, and 5 months earlier He had led a ladies' group to include both of those specific articles."- Source Unknown.
Christian! Pray for those who are in spiritual poverty, whose hearts are broken, who see themselves in bondage with the chains of many evil habits, who sit in the darkness of guilt and misery, without a friendly hand to lead them in the way in which they should go, to these, the Gospel of the grace of Christ is a pleasing sound, because this is the acceptable year of the Lord; the time, in which he saves to the uttermost, all who come unto him in the name of his Son Jesus.
Reader! Are you troubled? Are you afflicted? Are you in bondage? Then come to Jesus, He will save you, He came into the world for this very purpose. Cast your soul upon him, and you shall be saved and have everlasting life.
Loving Father, I thank you for the power of the Holy Spirit who helps me to pray! I pray for those who read this post, that they will know that Jesus loves them, and can deliver them from their oppression, their affliction, their blindness and their bondage. In His wonderful name I pray!
