DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT - FRIDAY: The Christians Supreme Assignment
"The neglected heart will soon be a heart overrun with worldly thoughts; the neglected life will soon become a moral chaos; the church that is not jealously protected by mighty intercession and sacrificial labors will before long become the abode of every evil bird and the hiding place for unsuspected corruption. The creeping wilderness will soon take over that church that trusts in its own strength and forgets to watch and pray." -- A. W. Tozer

Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. -- Dan 12: 3
As we come to our conclusion on our study on Dan 12:3… we saw that he brings before us The Christian's Supreme Assignment! The greatest and most worthwhile goal a Christian can have is to… “…lead many to righteousness...” The Lord has saved us in order that we may be transformed…
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. -- Romans 12:2
The wise, as described by Daniel, are the Godly who looked forward to the Messiah. They show their wisdom not only by how they live, but by the effect of their lives and testimony, because they lead many to a righteous way of life. Their shining means that they will be transformed, and God’s glory will be reflected in and through them!
Be Transformed By The Renewing Of Your Mind
Many Christians need transforming today in their attitude to winning souls; they believe that this is the work of an Evangelist or Pastor, or for someone who is outgoing or a spiritual novice, but not for them. This attitude is prevalent today in a lot of Christians who do not realise that it is God’s own desire to win souls…
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -- John 3:16
Evangelist D.L. Moody used to tell about a picture that impressed him greatly. It portrayed a woman grasping a cross with both hands as she was being rescued from a stormy sea. Mr. Moody would then go on to relate how that picture lost much of its impact for him when he saw another painting some time later.
The second picture also depicted a woman being rescued from raging waters. But while clinging with one hand to a cross, her other hand was lifting another person out of the waves to safety. That picture dramatically portrays what we who have been rescued from the penalty of our sins should be doing. Recognising that others around us are lost and perishing, we should not be so selfishly taken up with our own salvation that we forget about them.
Finding God’s pleasing and perfect will
What is God’s pleasing and perfect will for us? I believe the evidence presents itself in the previous verse...
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. -- Romans 12:1
To understand His pleasing and perfect will we have to…
- Offer ourselves as living sacrifices = SERVICE
- Be Holy = SEPARATE FROM THE WORLD SYSTEM
- Pleasing = OBEDIENCE
- Worship = ADORATION
When these qualities are transformed in our minds, then the will of God takes priority in our lives, and The Christian's Supreme Assignment turns into reality … that no one should perish but have eternal life!
“If your heart takes more pleasure in reading novels, or watching TV, or going to the movies, or talking to friends, rather than just sitting alone with God and embracing Him, sharing His cares and His burdens, weeping and rejoicing with Him, then how are you going to handle forever and ever in His presence...? You'd be bored to tears in heaven, if you're not ecstatic about God now!” -- Keith Green
Loving Father, Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to transform my mind, so that I may serve you in winning souls, that I would separate myself from the world system, that I may be obedient to your commands, and to bring glory to your name! In Jesus wonderful and mighty name! Amen!
