SUNDAY SERMON ON THE BLOG – PASSIONATE ABOUT HOLINESS.

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. - 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8.

The call to holiness is easy to disregard in a world which lives by much different standards.

The enemy gets us to evaluate our lifestyle with those around us, deceiving us into diminishing our sins in comparison to others. But the issue is not comparison shopping our sin; the issue is a thankful heart that has been cleansed by the Holy Spirit, and saved by grace. Ignoring, or demeaning the Holy Spirit's call for holiness, is rejecting God.

Let's be passionate about holiness in our lives, both because it is what God wants, and also because it is what we should seek.

Loving Father, forgive me if I have been trying to water down the significance of my sin. Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to kindle in me a passion for holiness, and empower me to live in a way which honours you for all that you have done to save me. In the wonderful and mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
