DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT - FRIDAY: New Creations With A New Purpose

The glory of God, and, as our only means to glorifying Him, the salvation of human souls, is the real business of life. -- C.S. Lewis.
----------------------------------------------------------
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; -- 2 Cor 5:17–18.

As I shared yesterday about the fact that we all have a ministry, to help us understand this further, we now study the purpose for which we were born again in Christ. Today, everyone is talking about purpose, it’s the new ‘Buzz’ word, and people are even writing books about our purpose and the Churches purpose. But I want to draw from the heavenly book, you know, the one written by men through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Bible – God’s Word! And from our text above, we see that...

God Has Made Us A New Creation With A New Purpose

Paul said that anyone who has received Christ, (Born Again) they are made a new creation, in other words, we belong to God’s family, to His world where the Holy Spirit rules. We are made in God’s image and He has given us a purpose, and that purpose is to tell people about Jesus Christ, which is the message of reconciliation. Jesus reconciled us to the Father by His atoning death on the Cross and rose again that we might have a new life and a new purpose.

My God, who has committed to my care
Thy ransomed one
Lest I be scattered here and there
and she be gone
Give me to hold me firmly to my trust
Let all that would distract me be as dust.

'Thy life for hers' -- O solemn, urgent word --
Lest I forget,
My sense of values waver, or be blurred,
Or overset

By other things, take me and purge and bend
Each power and purpose to one single end.

Teach me to do the thing that pleaseth Thee
O Lord, my God
Give clearness, lest some by-way tangle me.
Where Christ hath trod
There would I tred, nor ever turn aside,
Lest she be missing for whom Christ hath died.
-- Amy Carmichael

Empowered for Ministry
Not only
has he given us this purpose, this ministry of winning souls, He has empowered us for that purpose and ministry... But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." -- Acts 1:8. This is known as the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The primary purpose of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the receiving of power to witness for Jesus Christ, so that the lost shall be won over to Him and taught to obey all that He commanded. The end result is that Jesus may be known, loved, praised, and made Lord of God’s people!

"More men fail through lack of purpose than lack of talent." -- Billy Sunday.

I will never forget when I won my first soul for the Lord Jesus Christ. I was only saved a few months when the Lord gave me an opportunity to put my ministry and purpose into practice. She was a young woman who worked in the office of the factory where I was employed. She was a single mother with a little girl about 9 years old. I shared with her the gospel and how Jesus had turned my life around and how He had given me a new purpose; she accepted Jesus into her life came to our Church, and made a public confession of her faith. A few Sundays later her daughter gave her life to Jesus at Children’s Church. Both of them, new creations with a new life and a new purpose!

Since then, I have had the pleasure and the privilege of leading many to Christ and every soul won is as precious as the last;
Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. – Luke 15:7. So come on... WE HAVE A NEW PURPOSE IN LIFE... LET US ACCOMPLISH IT!

Loving Father, I thank you that I am a new creation with a new purpose, to reconcile the lost to you! Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit, to spread the gospel of the Lord Jesus in my family, my community, my City, my country and wherever you place my feet, that I may glorify you in my ministry! In Jesus mighty name I pray! Amen!
