DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT: FORCEFUL PEOPLE #3
The longer I live, the more I am certain that the great difference between the great and the insignificant, is energy -- invincible determination -- a purpose once fixed, and then death or victory. -- Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton
-----------------------------------------------------------
Matt 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
WE MUST HAVE DETERMINATION IF WE ARE TO BE A FORCEFUL PEOPLE
As we studied yesterday, DISCIPLINE was the first principle in forcefully advancing the Kingdom of Heaven for which disciplined forceful people lay hold of it.
DETERMINATION: Is the second principle that we require to be a forceful people for God. Usually when we are determined we succeed. Determination means a steadfastness of principle, in other words, persevering in order that we may reach our objective. "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." -- Heb 12:1
The writer of Hebrews is telling us that we are being watched by all the saints who have preceded us to the Kingdom of Heaven, they are our supporters and they are cheering us on, they want to see us run with perseverance the race marked out for us… THE LAYING HOLD OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and to progress forward in pursuit of our goal. The race must be won by throwing off the sins that impede or slow us down, and by fixing our eyes, lives and hearts on Jesus and the example of persevering obedience he set on earth.
I will go anywhere, provided it be forward. -- David Livingstone
Determination is the second principle to be coming a forceful person!
Loving Father, I want to rid myself of all the things that hinder me, the sin that so easily trips me up in my pursuit of the kingdom of heaven, wash me and cleanse me in the precious blood of Jesus. Help me Lord to be determined and obedient as I move forward for Christ. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
